With nearly one and a half decades of experience in the media and political spheres of Sri Lanka, Thushi brings a wealth of knowledge and insight into her work, particularly in analyzing Sri Lankan politics and its socio-political implications.
A Proven Track Record in Media and Journalism
Thushi began her journalism career as an intern at "Rights Now" in 2010. She quickly rose through the ranks, serving as a programme officer, programme coordinator, sub-editor, and finally a programme manager. She had the overall responsibility for the content of Samabima, Sri Lanka's leading human rights newspaper launched by Rights Now. Thushi was also responsible for the reader's circle and providing analysis of the country's political developments.
She has experience working with the Movement for Free and Fair Elections as an election monitor through Mothers and Daughters of Lanka during the Northern Provincial Council elections in 2013 and Western Provincial Council elections in 2014.
Throughout her career, Thushi has held various roles, including a freelance journalist for Right to Life Human Rights Agency, a programme officer in the legal unit for Paffrel (The People's Action for Free and Fair Elections), an editor for Janabalaya, and a social media manager for Veediye Virodaya. She also served as the news and feature editor of Sri Lanka Mirror and the editor of Mirror Arts.
Leadership Roles and Political Acumen
Thushi's leadership qualities were recognized by the late Hon. Minister Mangala Samaraweera, who appointed her as a Management Assistant in the Ministry of Finance and Media and later, the Ministry of Finance (2017-2019). This experience provided Thushi with invaluable insights into the workings of government and political landscapes.

Currently, Thushi holds the prestigious position of Deputy Editor at The Leader, a leading Sri Lankan news and media platform. She concurrently serves as the Editor of VoiceTube, showcasing her ability to manage multiple demanding roles effectively. Her dedication to journalism extends beyond her professional work, as evidenced by her active participation as a committee member of the Young Journalists Association.
Thushi is currently managing several platforms, including Voicetube.lk, and Vipakshaya.lk, Mirrorarts.lk and TheLeader.lk.

Thushi holds a Diploma in Journalism, along with certificates from prestigious programs like the Media Training Programme by Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor Scholarship Silk Road Project for Foreign Students and the UNESCO Media Fellowship Programme. Her Bachelor's degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura serves as a strong foundation for her academic achievements.
